Anyone biting on that $39.99 Bollinger Special Cuvee?
I didn't get that offer, but I was happy to pick up two of the 2014 Marie Courtin Concordance Extra Brut this week.
I also needed to post in this thread so I can see these replies

I am done with Special Club purchases until I can figure out a permanent way of making these bottles work in my cellar. Although, I have gone long on Marie-Courtin, which are as terrible as the SC bottles but I just love the MC wines so they are getting my limited 'Scraper space for the PITA shape.
My best wines of 2018:

Are you talking about the Bollinger or the Marie Courtin? I'll be waiting a couple years before I pop one of the MC

Yeah, not super stoked about that lead-time. But, I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that late-July will be the soonest these will be available again so I jumped.

"Concerning" may be too strong, but I'm trying to figure out the chain of circumstances that would lead to that kind of lead time. This is their bread and butter wine; are they really sold out now? Won't have any until summer? Weird

I suppose Howard. But as I recall, the ad didn't say so, and it is hard to believe that the current release is sold out. And if the wine won't be released until next summer, why offer it now?
Anyway, it just seemed very odd to me.

Cellar door is a bit under $30 all in, so I don't think this is a screaming deal. Fantastic vintage mind you, so I'm sure it'll be lovely. A pass for me though.

Bit on on the 07 Ruinart Blanc des Blancs. I don't think Ruinart gets enough attention but both the NV and Vintage Blanc de Blancs are outstanding wines.

Very temptempted by the Dom Ruinart, but deleted the email in a moment of willpower. If offered again I'm likely to cave.

$10 cheaper on wine searcher too. Think I'll wait for the big 2008 on this though. I did grab some Shaman though.

Ruinart is my upscale "everyone likes this" champagne, even as I wish they'd use less dosage. I love its precision, I dislike the sweetness.

Said this was the first year with a new vintner and the dosage was cut in half.

I’ve stopped buying it just bc of storage, still have a case or so and it’s hard to find space for them. I’m just sticking a few of them in lay flat boxes with other wine in the cellar bc they won’t fit racks well.

Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires is such a great price. Had to break my already short lived moratorium for it. If it's anything like '95 with some cellar time I'll be a very happy camper.

Ruinart is my upscale "everyone likes this" champagne, even as I wish they'd use less dosage. I love its precision, I dislike the sweetness.
Said this was the first year with a new vintner and the dosage was cut in half.
This was the first wine made completely by the current Chef de Caves Frédéric Panaïotis, but he has been in charge of disgorgement and releasing the wines since the 1998 Dom Ruinart vintage. Also, the 2007 Dom Ruinart BdB actually has a slightly higher dosage at 5 g/L than the 2006 Dom Ruinart BdB which was approximately 4.5 g/L. The Dom Ruinart BdB dosage data (on original releases) since 1985 is:
- 1985: 9 g/L
- 1986: 7 g/L
- 1988: 9 g/L
- 1990: 10-11 g/L
- 1993: 10 g/L
- 1996: 7 g/L
- 1998: 7 g/L
- 2002: 6-6.5 g/L
- 2004: 6-6.5 g/L
- 2006: 4.5 g/L
- 2007: 5 g/L
The dosage has fallen over time, but this isn't a recent trend and not something worth discussing with the 2007... especially since it is higher than the previous vintage.
