Article: The Golden Age of White Burgundy

In a puff piece on white burg for Le Pan, Tim Atkin performs this spectacular bit of hand waving:

“The concerns about the premature oxidation of white wines in bottle have largely disappeared, thanks to a better understanding of how it was caused, and the best producers are making outstanding wines that will age gracefully for a decade or more.”

Wonders indeed.

That’s…golden :astonished:

It’s disturbing that someone who is supposed to be an authority would say something so blatantly untrue.

I thought the golden age of white Burgundy ended in 1994.

This says otherwise. 2008 "Mostly Montrachet" Dinner -- 2008 Vintage Assessment and Premox Check Dinner No. 3 - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

Title is referring to the present colour of young white Burgundy.

Maybe THIS:

and the best producers are making outstanding wines that will age gracefully for a decade or more."<<

… was the most ridiculous statement !!!

A DECADE or more … ONE DECADE … [rofl.gif]
… and THE Golden Age … [tease.gif]

(recently had a 1973 Puligny-M. Caillerets in great shape … )

Maybe a return to the Golden Age, we hope.

Embarrassing.

The Age of Golden Burgundy, more like it.

Ooof, it hurts to laugh…! Well played,
