TN: Domaine du Mortier 14 Bourgueil 'Les Pins'

Just a killer wine for the price. Expansive aromas of raspberry, blackberry and black cherry, with lots of freshly upturned soil notes, and a hint of dark chocolate.

Plenty of sappy Cab Franc snap to the fruit, which follow through from the aromatics. Shows its structure in the mid-palate, then kicks into Loire Cab Franc herbal snap overdrive on the finish. Black raspberry and that fresh dirt awesomeness at the very end.

Paired with a baked, herb-crusted airline chicken breast and sauteed vegetables. It’s the kind of pairing where the quality far outstrips the price.

An interesting exotic sauvignon.

Jim, did you have this mid-flight? Or is that just a descriptor of blandness? I’m curious because I often find wines express differently in the air than on the ground. Regardless, thanks for the note.
