Greetings all, my first "proper" post here after a brief intro on the newbie thread.

I popped into my local Costco in Memphis. Discovered 2015 Senejac at $16.29 a bottle. Went for half a case but am now wondering whether I should have gone all in!

Also picked up a couple of Chateau Haut-Brisson 2015 at $23.99.
Welcome to the Board!......

Is your comment on the 2015 Senejac from you personally tasting the wine? It would be great to find a decent 2015 Bordeaux that I can drink now on a Tuesday night......
Thanks Paul. I picked it up yesterday afternoon and haven't tried it yet, but both the wine and vintage seem to be consistently well rated and I thought this could be a good way of putting down some solid stock for my fledgling cellar. I won't be able to resist popping a bottle or two but some comments I've seen on the site suggest I might be best served just laying them down and forgetting them for a few years.

The ‘16 Kirkland Gigondas is worth grabbing a handful...if you can still can find them. My local Costco is sold out.
Thanks so much for the heads up. Gave this a try and was very pleased. Fantastic QPR.

I was at Costco this weekend and noticed that their KitchenAid Professional 6-Quart stand mixers are being sold off for $249.97. The website says Series 6, but ours came with a pouring shield, which I believe means it's the Series 600 package.

https://www.costco.com/KitchenAid-Profe ... 04199.html

We haven't done a ton of baking over the years, but we are starting to do a bit more (probably due to watching the Great British Baking Show on Netflix). The price was really good, so we decided to bite the bullet. Now to just find it a good home in our tiny kitchen...

Oh, and I also bought their last bottle of 2015 Lilian Ladouys at $20.

Timely question, Don. We tried this a couple of nights ago with shrimp scampi. Here is what I said about it in my "Florida Fish of the Week" thread

"I opened a Kirkland Signature 2016 Chablis that we picked up at Costco this week to keep me company while prepping and cooking and to serve with our meal. I like this wine very much; it is my style of Chardonnay, lemony crisp, flavorful, no detectable oak (to me), almost like a Chardonnay-Sancerre if that makes sense to anyone. Very enjoyable on its own and with the scampi!"

SO we enjoyed it a lot that first night . . . but when I finished it the next day while watching the NFL playoffs, it seemed to have lost some of its flavor profile. Maybe I forgot to vacu-vin properly or my taste buds were off? I am going to give it another try. -Jim

I haven't seen the '15 Ladouys yet at mine, but hope I do. I really enjoyed the '14 at about $19 (IIRC) and would definitely grab a few bottles of the '15 at that price.

KA stand mixers are must have kitchen gear for me. They do so much and last forever. I probably use it for pizza dough most, then general various baking, but I also use the meat grinder attachment a lot.

I'm not surprised if the '16 is a very bright and lemony wine. The '15 was very nice and I'm generally not much of a fan of of the '15 vintage for whites. At about $17 I don't back up the truck on this because occasionally better known Chablis are available around this price but I will definitely give the '16 a try on the strength of the '15.

Here's a good Costco story/win for ya. I made my weekly visit (I have 2 young kids) to my favorite location here in Phx and, per usual, did a b-line to the wine section. Nothing really new or exciting, but I did see that they just got in multiple pallets of Dom Perignon in single-case boxes. Took a quick look but unfortunately it was still the 2009 vintage. Just as I was about to turn around and head towards the produce section, something caught my eye. Wait a minute....what's this? Why does this box have gold signatures on it?? Yep....2008 Legacy Edition!

Naturally I did what any decent Berserker would and (much to the amusement of the casual Costco shopper) started furiously digging through the piles. Ended up finding three 2008's mistakingly stuck amongst the 2009's. At $157 per, I'm a happy camper! Love Costco ;)

I have not seen awesome markdowns in any of the Seattle area stores for years. But they had 2 great wines at fantastic prices yesterday. 2016 Palacios Petalos for $11.99 and 2016 Pingus PSI for $21.99. This was at the SODO store.

In the early 2000's, Costco had a few 1st growths during the holidays for prices that were pricy then, but would be laughably below the going prices today. There were a few mags of Lafite left and I tried to stash one to buy later with cash, and it slipped through the boxes and broke on the floor between the display cases. A few seconds later, red wine came gushing out from underneath the palette by my feet. The horror almost instantly reminded me of the elevator scene in The Shining. I grabbed my girlfriend and we got the hell out of there.

They were pricey as compared to prior vintages (as that was really the time when 1st growths started increasing in price almost exponentially, purportedly based on rapidly increased buying from Asia). However, at the time their prices were under market (though something like 70% higher than pricing on the '99s). I believe the Latour was something like $125/bottle at Costco, but as the hype for the vintage built, the wine was selling for more like $150-$200 elsewhere in our market. The only problem was that anytime they got a new shipment in at Costco, they would only last a few hours. I picked up some Latour along with some Lynch Bages, Pichon Baron, and a few other 2000 Bordeaux at very decent prices at Costco.

Seattle has mags of Fleur Cardinale 2015 for $85.

As to Tex and Ravenswood, February is Constellation fiscal close, so everyone dumps items in market to make up points and avoid penalties for missing goals. Expect more depending on the market.

No 08 DP or Cristal sightings yet.

I see a stray stack of Gouges there once every blue moon. Problem for me is that I'm 55, and just not sure I'll be here long enough before these vintages are ready...

More recent Gouges is much softer and more approachable. Not exactly sure when that transition took place, from the harder, rougher old style, but at least from 13 on, and probably before that.

That's how I feel, too. *Every* time I go into Costco I look at the wine. The last time I saw a deal that excited me was 2 years ago when I got the 2014 Le Dame de Montrose for $33 (not even a screaming deal, relative to market, but I was quite happy with it). Most of the time I see nothing but garbage, or adequately priced good-not-great wines, but nothing I want to buy.

You’d be better off to pay full price then have to spend time in Lubbock, trust me.
