Didn't see this thread and posted elsewhere, but the North Miami Beach location had Kosta Browne Russian River Valley 2016 for $80, which (to me at least) was pretty astonishing. I've seen the Dom there too, but not at the prices others are posting here (at ours it's nearly $200, I believe). There was also a good selection of top-label Ports - now that I found this place to share the news, I'll take better notes.

Mark - does that location get a good selection? Up here in Boca, it's TERRIBLE!

Sherri: the wine selection is pretty good, and if you drove there and were disappointed, there's a Total Wine right across the street, so it wouldn't be a wasted trip to check it out. The NMB store moved from US1 to a location just behind the old one (weird, but whatever), and I think it got a little bigger in the process. Store employees told me previously that it was the highest-volume (or one of the) in the system, and it has an especially large Kosher section. They also seem to get big-ticket items, like Iberico hams this past December (also the liquor store has several bottles of whiskey and cognac priced in the $1000s).

I've been at other locations (like Plantation, FL) and the wine selection always seemed comparable at both locations, but with the new location they may be getting more high-end items. Like I said in the last post, I was a little shocked to see Kosta Browne given I'd previously been on the mailing list for KB and didn't think it sold any other way (and also that the production is so limited, and Costco is such a bulk-buyer).

... and the store location please. I don't see much items ending in .97 (meaning discounted for clearance) in the wood bins, but sometimes find them on the back shelves (the more mass-market stuff).

I threw out the receipt unfortunately.

I only look for the .97 when I go in, my local Costco never has them but the 2 closer to Chicago always do. This was the north riverside, Illinois location

Jim, much easier to call Costco and ask for availability with an item number than the wine name. Just makes things easier.

If you have the item number you can call and they'll do a "nearby store inventory" check for you.

They can - if one asks nicely - do an inventory check even w/o the SKU

Of course just because a wine is inventory at a store doesn't mean one can actually find it there, esp if its only a few bottles.

And sometimes they will even bring some into your store if requested (if they can get it... distribution may be regional)

At NMB store yesterday
Unico Tempranillo $350
2016 Leoville Las Cases $150
2016 Taylor Fladgate 100pt $89
Graham’s 40yo $150
2016 Beaucastel CdP $74

I asked about the Kosta Browne I’d seen previously and the wine guy (who is generally not very helpful in his recommendations) said they received a small allotment ties to the store grand opening.

The ones with the signature are the 2008 Legacy Edition....which apparantley is the exact same wine as the regular bottling.

The main difference in the picture above is that all the other boxes are 2009, and this was the sole 2008.

I grabbed a case because the last 2 vintages have been incredibly good for the price, it sounds like they've changed it this year though. I should have looked closer at the bottles, is it made at a different chateau?

Nabbed these while in Atlanta for a business trip this week. Checked with supe, who advised there were still some in a couple North Florida Costco locations.

In Texas any hard liquor is sold at a separate location from wine and beer (which is sold in warehouse) and returning wine for any reason, corked or otherwise, has never been a problem. I'll try one this weekend and report back.

I also looked back at my previous bottles and can confirm the winemaker has changed. Here are 2016, 17, and 18 for comparison.

Just bought an '08 Cristal for $199 at the South Anchorage Costco. It was their last bottle.

I drove to the new North Miami location today.
Picked up Cristal 2008 for 199.99. They had Dom for $154. The Dom was 2009 and I had to ask the wine manager if they had any. He sent me to the front desk. This location has a much bigger selection than the Davie store I go every week. I was in a rush so I just didn’t go up and down every isle. Will definitely be visiting again.

Can anyone recommend a Boston-area Costco that does a good job with their wine offerings? Thanks.

Our Costco had 2014 Fontanafredda Barolo for 29.99 and Ratti Barbara d'Asti for 14.69, plus Monsanto CCR for 20.41 this past weekend. Italian week at my house it is.
