TN: 1947 Louis Jadot: Chevalier-Montrachet "Les Demoiselles"

I bought this olive green glass bottle several years ago from a source in the U.K. As I was poaching a whole Atlantic salmon for dinner, I felt this would be a mature drinking partner. Adequately chilled for several hours, the solid cork came out in one piece without crumbling. No signs of any seepage. A clear mid amber colour, wafts of gentle dry nuts, butterscotch and antique furniture greet my nostrils. The mouthfeel is a slowly paced journey of dried fruits like peaches and plums, with an underlying freshness that keeps everything in order. A longish length that finishes bone dry, this fully mature wine was truly an honour to drink slowly over an evening. There can’t be too many bottles of this wine left in the world.

Great looking wine, Nicos. Thanks for sharing. It’s so nice when old white burgs are on form.

Nice! Not sure I’ve ever seen a Jadot so old.

Super jealous Nicos. Very nice!

Awesome photos, love the wine color!

crazy. Bet it rocked.

I have a 1947 Leroy Chevalier in the cellar. I hope it’s as good as this !

Love these tasting notes, how all should be presented with the bottle, cork, and wine pictures.

At least it wasn’t prem-oxed! Jadot and all … :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you chaps!

great bottle Nicos. Looks like you opened it at the perfect time.

Yes, thanks for the TN, Nicos. I always enjoy reading your wine notes.
