TN: 1947 Louis Jadot: Chevalier-Montrachet "Les Demoiselles"
I bought this olive green glass bottle several years ago from a source in the U.K. As I was poaching a whole Atlantic salmon for dinner, I felt this would be a mature drinking partner. Adequately chilled for several hours, the solid cork came out in one piece without crumbling. No signs of any seepage. A clear mid amber colour, wafts of gentle dry nuts, butterscotch and antique furniture greet my nostrils. The mouthfeel is a slowly paced journey of dried fruits like peaches and plums, with an underlying freshness that keeps everything in order. A longish length that finishes bone dry, this fully mature wine was truly an honour to drink slowly over an evening. There can’t be too many bottles of this wine left in the world.
