Sonoma County Harvest Fair

The annual judging of wines from grapes grown in Sonoma. These are the wines I tasted over two days. Only golds were poured–and there were hundreds of them–so I only got a small sampling. Pretty much impossible to take notes so I went with a letter grade system this year.
Within varietals there are often sub-classes by price, such as Zinfandel under $30, but I lumped them all together.

PeaceLand 2013 Fountaingrove District Cab $75

Made my way down there on Friday evening for some tasting, crowd seemed a bit thinner this year and maybe less producers pouring that evening but memory doesn’t always serve me correctly!

I’m with you Bob, both the Peaceland Cab and Davis Campbell Ranch PN were awesome. Along with the Dutcher Crossing Prop Reserve Cab, I also enjoyed some Pinot from Merriam. I was bummed Saini wasn’t pouring on Friday night they had some tasty Zins last year.

Over Thanksgiving we had a bottle of the 2014 Sonoma-Cutrer PN [RRV] with our turkey & trimmings. It showed herbal, oregano notes to me. But still fruity and just a touch flabby. Maybe it was too warm. Maybe more of a cocktail hour wine than a dining table wine. Solid supermarket wine, worth drinking by the glass. Wouldn’t expend cellar slots on it. I’d give it a B too and I’m partial towards the Russian River for pinots.
