They are paid obscene amounts of money to shadow us around. Get a dog instead. We do have some sharp ones, however.

I will be retiring soon. I might consider doing it for "free" so that I can have something to do...so who will pay for my relocation from Chicagoland? champagne.gif

Unpaid????? Never heard of that before. Usually, the word is overpaid. In any case, summer associates should load the wine in fridges - it isn't like they do much else.

Exactly. I'm not some cheap bastard, but granted, in theory, they should be begging to work for a legal giant - I mean, Country Esquire - like me. Yea, we over-pay them. I should qualify, the high school law magnet kids that we run through our firm - two this summer - they are unpaid. Poor saps. I put my law magnet son in the mailroom so he could at least make some coin. It's like bonus money to me. He ain't touching my wine, though. Well, he apparently did bust a move on some girls at his recent house party 'cause I keep noticing some missing stuff (including the Willi). But I cannot condone or approve of that errant behavior.

Nick is not yet responding to wine, but is enjoying some artisanal beers with me. Baby steps.

Like you, some of my fondest memories with my father were right after law school, sharing many fine bottles of wine with him and with the family. This was when he finally started seeing me as a man rather than an errant, spoiled child. Some parallels, eh? We were always exposed to my parents wine at the nightly dinner table, but later we all started to enjoy many fine wines together. Coincidentally, the first Bordeaux we shared together was the very 1990 La Louviere that I posted about earlier. It was over a Thanksgiving weekend where my sister and I brought our new significant others to the house. A lot of excellent wines were popped, including several vintages of Caymus when Caymus actually tasted like wine (1991-93), some 1990 Montrose, 1990 Lynch Bages, 1989 Chateau Olivier and the 1990 La Louv. I brought the Bordeaux, didn't really comprehend then that some of these wines require 20+ years. While they all showed decently given the warmth of the vintages, this La Louviere really stood out. I immediately went out and bought a lot more. We still gather quite regularly either at my folk's beach house or mountain house, and are headed there for the July 4 weekend. My sister and bro-in-law were in town last night, and I popped this La Louviere for them, plus some Raffault Chinon, and we reminisced about that night some 22 or so years ago. Time has flown, but we are all quite close, and wine is still a major part of our experiences. The boys - my sister has 3 aged 16-20 and we have one, Nick aged 18 - were with us last night, they enjoyed some beers from Omegang Brewery that I brought back from Cooperstown.

Realm ‘02 To Kalon - have been searching for their first vintage for years, finally found some. Now to find an ‘03, the warehouse fire vintage. There are notes in CT, so at least some survived/weren’t in the fire.

Big warehouse fire in 2003, Realm (and others) had huge losses.

Not sure if the Ente was stock or from Kermit's cellar. I took all I was offered. Waiting to see what my allocation of 2015 Arnaud Ente will be, never have enough.

I have no idea. I ship to my office to avoid problems when no one is home and I was unable to reroute some shipments, so boxes were delivered today, but picking up wine in my office is not deemed an essential activity. I applied for an essential activity waiver, but after I filled out the questionnaire, they rejected me because they said I already have a 10 year supply.

My six pack of Ridge Montebello arrived yesterday, as did my shipment of Estate wines. Two separate boxes with two separate shipping charges for a total of nine bottles. Not that smart.

I also have a magnum of Montebello as part of my standing order. It should arrive next week (in its own box obviously) with a separate shipping charge.

I love Ridge to death but c'mon, man. Put it all in one box.

Bedrock arrived on Wednesday, Sabelli-Frisch arrived last Friday. I think Once and Future is my only 'pending' shipment.

I also received my Ridge shipments this week of 6 MB and 3 estate wines. I agree, they should gave combined shipments, it's crazy that I had to pay and extra $10/ btl to ship the 3 estate wines.
