Grand Cru Red Burg Under Screwcap At Age 10

  • 2006 Jean-Claude Boisset Charmes-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (6/28/2016)
Under screwcap this thing is humming along beautifully. It has some ripe berry and cherry fruit along with freshly grated ginger, smoked meats and sweet earth on the nose. It is open-knit and generous in the mouth with a silky mouthfeel and nice depth of fruit. The finish is fine, spicy and long.

Thanks for the note, Jeremy, it might make some converts.

Thanks for the data point. Do you think it’s “aging” appropriately for a ten year old GC? Or does it seem “behind schedule”.

One could only hope Frank.

Hi Mike, it is balanced, all elements are nicely integrated and whilst still very fresh is drinking just how I’d expect a Grand Cru to at age 10.

It doesn’t count because it’s not DRC. We’ll never know if wine ages properly under screwcap.

More seriously, thanks for the note.

Of course now the question has to be - do you know what permeability level Boisset selected for their screwcap?

Jeremy,
That’s for the information.

thanks, J.
