Matt’s post in another thread seemed like a good idea for a separate discussion. What bottles did you rate the highest on CellarTracker per each varietal?

This was an interesting exercise. One, in a few cases, these aren’t my most memorable bottles. For example, I drink a lot of Barolo, and that 2001 Bruno Giacosa isn’t the greatest I have ever enjoyed, but I guess I scored it for the upside. Same for that Coche-Dury.
Second, it is interesting to see how mean score compares to max score per variety. For example, I also drink a lot of Riesling. My highest score is 93, but nearly all of my scores are clustered around 90-93, higher than other varietals. That’s impressive, particularly when you factor in the relatively low price-per-bottle of Riesling, and the minimal effort I exude in sourcing it, compared to other bottles in my cellar. For comparison, I might score the greatest White Burgundies very highly (like that Coche) but I bet my average Chardonnay score is lower than my average Riesling, and it would be even lower if I bought White Burgundy as indiscriminately as I do Riesling.

Over time I have become a tougher grader!
Not by grape, but here’s the top10 community average scoring wines on my cellar (reverse order). Not what I would have thought, but I also don’t see the value in scoring wines, so perhaps this illustrates that my palate and other people’s scores don’t necessarily align.
There are fancier wines that don’t make the top 10 scores, and the ‘winner’ probably only has a single score assigned to it. High scores for the Aussies as well, considering they represent 15% of my cellar, yet half of the high scorers are Aussies. VFM or overrated?
Interesting to list community wines rated by community average. I’ve flagged one to Eric where a winery openly posted a 100 point score and note on their own wines, but I’d say there were a good number of 100 pointers that look ‘unlikely’. Also good to see grade inflation in the amateur community, so not just the pros!
I don’t typically score wines, but it was kind of fun looking at my cellar based on average CT scores. Although some of entries were some of “usual suspects,” it was fun to see that
