TN: 1999 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchot Dessus

  • 1999 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchot Dessus - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (11/5/2009)
This was simply a wonderful, wonderful white burg. Nose was reticent, otherwise the score would have been higher. But with some coaxing we found aromas of green apple, white flowers, and something along the lines of a kind of mineral quality. Still, the nose was reserved. The palate was just great. Apple, lots of a sense of rock or mineral, and something nut-like or bread-like as a kind of darker undertone of flavor. The acid frame was incredible… very, very fresh on the palate, with a great sense of lift and a terrific finish. This was truly outstanding. Now and, if the pox were not to show itself, for ten years. (93 pts.)
