1991 Williams-Selyem Rochioli Vineyard

Recently tasted over dinner one of my last two remaining 1991 Williams-Selyem Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir, and it was drinking beautifully. Still alive, not at all over the hill, softened but still layers of complexity and enough freshness to complement the crispy duck confit. I was nervous that it would have been over the hill, but it was a beauty. When I finally drink up the last of my Burt-era PN’s, which for me are this one, a 91 Allen, and the 94, 95, and 97 Allen’s and Rochioli’s, it will be a sad day for me.

That’s a rare bottle these days

Sounds lovely. I interviewed Burt a few weeks ago and he opened his penultimate bottle of the 1988 Summa which was drinking similarly beautifully, with no signs of decline whatsoever. You’re lucky to have a nice stash of his wines remaining!

I admit to being a member of the Burt fan club, but the post-Burt years have been quite good, as well.

Wow! Very impressive!
