I love that vintage!

Is there a vintage where you’ve really had consistently great experiences?

Okay, let’s do the opposite of the “I hate that vintage” thread and pick a favorite year. Exactly the same as the other as far as options and conditions… just more positive.

For me, it’s a close race between 1995 and 2001. California Cabs are fantastic in both years but I lean towards '01. For 1995, the Loire is very, very good and Burgundy is excellent in my opinion. For 2001, Riesling is stellar (although not my favorite year) - if I made the poll for just whites, I’d pick 2002 or 1990.

1998 - Outstanding year for Oregon Pinot

2001 burgundy red for me
but I reckon enjoy nowish

1983 Bordeaux!

I really have liked most 2001’s. Great in Germany, I’ve had unforgettable Champagne from 2001 even though it was not declared by many…Piedmont, Rioja, California, Oregon, Washington, the list goes on & on for me. The only other widely successful vintage that stands out to me like that would be 2010.

1990 - and it´s not on the list … [oops.gif]

Great in all major French regions.

2010 is so spot on in so many places I have to go with the group, but 1995 is my second favorite. Great year for Burgundy!

Agree – 2010 has been outstanding everywhere I’ve tasted.

There were only 20 options allowed, plus I wanted to use the same years as the “hate that vintage” thread. You won’t get an argument from me about 1990 though.

Haven’t gotten to many 2010’s yet so I can’t comment. Like what I’m seeing though!

Flawed poll. Skipped 2013

1989 Bordeaux

1990 in general

Good to see 2010 doing so well - great, great Burgundy vintage (in both colors), excellent in Germany, Barolo, Bordeaux, etc.

See my post above yours. neener

Im writing in 2013 as well.

2013 where? Bordeaux ? Southern Rhone? [scratch.gif]

2001 - Germany, Sauternes, really good, under the radar Bordeaux and Burgundy, CdP before the goop fest took over, Edmunds St. John rocked it!

For the reasons already mentioned in several earlier posts, for me it’s 2001. If the poll accommodated more options, I would strongly consider 1990.

2001 for Napa Cabernet

Forgot about that. Not a big CdP drinker so I have an excuse.

I’m voting 2010. Is there any region that was “bad” that year? Granted I’m saying this mostly based off of reviews. All of my barolos and brunellos are tucked away, along with most of my Bordeaux. Sipping a sub $20 2010 Bordeaux right now. Not going to win any complexity awards, but very enjoyable.
