2005 Domaine Denis Bachelet Côte de Nuits Villages - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Nuits Villages (1/3/2016)
Just barely starting to develop at age 10+, the aromatics of this wine show some complexity, though still quite a lot of primary fruit. Every once in a while I catch a whiff of earth, herbs and flowers that tells me the future is going to be beautiful. Maybe another year or 18 months until I try another bottle. I don't want to go too long, as it's getting close to really being something.

It doesn't surprise me that this is still improving. Consistently good stuff. The 2011 for example is lovely.

As I recall, the bulk of this comes from the Brochon lieu-dit Queue de Hareng. No good reason in terms of terroir why it shouldn't be Gevrey (or Fixin) AOC really.

Thanks for the info on the source for the wine. I did not know that.
