Tel Aviv for a week - Israel Wineries?

Hello Everyone!

I’m new to the forums so I’ll quickly introduce myself. I currently work as a Brand Manager for an importer and distributor based outside of Philadelphia, PA. Just recently passed WSET Level 4, I’m studying to hopefully get into the MW program. Lover of low alcohol, acid-driven, natural wines. I love to travel (who doesn’t) and post about my experiences.

Now to my question… I’m off to Tel Aviv for a wedding (before flying to France for a week), and I’m wondering if anyone has experience on wineries to visit? There’s always Recanati…

Thanks everyone, and looking forward to conversing with you all!

No wineries, but I do have one restaurant to recommend:

You could even ask them for winery recos since all the wines we sampled by the glass were excellent.

Never visited a winery in Israel, but try Castel (or Petit Castel).

Maybe here;

Golan Heights or Avidan…

Tzora http://www.tzoravineyards.com
Flam http://www.flamwinery.com

These are my three favorites. Even more than Castel. I am not a fan of Recanati

We used this guy and they put together a great tour for us.

Pelter is worth going to. Very nice wines and a beautiful location near Israel/Syrian border at Quinetra. Golan Heights Winery, also in the north is worth visiting.

We visited a couple, Tulip in the north, http://www.goisrael.com/Tourism_Eng/Tourist%20Information/attractions/Pages/Tulip%20Winery.aspx

Decent wines and open on Saturday, the Sabbath, which is rare.

In the South, Sde Boker. http://www.sdebokerwinery.com/ Interesting places both.

Of the local wines we drank while there, Golan Heights and Tishbi, home EN - יקבי תשבי seemed most consistent.

Thank you everyone! I’ll report back after my trip in July

On a plane heading back from Tel Aviv

My friend had a good visit at Castel. Went with a group to Galil Mountain winery nothing too special at the visit. High production winery. They make a Cab blend called Yiron which for the money was nice

Ate at Messa which we enjoyed and would recommend

High energy special place

I also recommend Castel - really nice bordeaux blends (the winemaker trained there decades ago) and I had a good visit there a couple of years ago (at that time, we needed to make a reservation - not sure whether that’s still the case).

The Tasting Room in Sarona (a really interesting area of Tel Aviv, btw) has a large selection of Israeli wines btg from oenomatic. This will give you an broader selection including some of the smaller wineries.
