2006 Ridge Geyserville

From a 375ml. bottle. 70% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and 2% Mataro. 14.6% alcohol by volume. “A full crop was thinned to intensify flavors. Natural yeasts. 14 mos. in barrel. Best 2015-2017.” Darkly colored and opaque. I’m loving this! Heady aroma of dark berries with earthy undertones. Just a hint of mint. On the palate, rich dark raspberry and a lingering, savory, smoky finish. (Kind of classic Zin blend meets northern Rhone.) This is so impressive that I’m wishing it was a regular-sized bottle rather than a half bottle.

Wow, just realized that I completely missed this vintage of Ridge!

Sitting on one of these, and sounds like it might be time. Need to drink my bottles from 2003, 2004 and 2005 first.
