Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
Hayne has an exquisite, almost PN kind of attack, with an overall field blend appeal. Nose is slightly medicinal, moderately smoky, without a lot of fruit upfront.
Smooth & elegant mouthfeel, explosive taste that’s hard to pin down, finish is real & spicy. We really enjoyed this with a half wheel of Rouge River Blue from Rogue Creamery. Gorgeous pair indeed.

Great note and great pic my man! What vintage is it - 2012? I can't quite make it out in the picture.Glenn L e v i n e wrote: ↑October 1st, 2020, 5:46 pm Hayne has an exquisite, almost PN kind of attack, with an overall field blend appeal. Yes, the 2012. Yummy wine, like all the 12 Carlisle wines.
I got my eyes on a 13 Limerick Lane soon.

Nice. 12 was just a killer vintage for both Carlisle and Bedrock. So good across the board.Glenn L e v i n e wrote: ↑October 7th, 2020, 9:51 pm Yes, the 2012. Yummy wine, like all the 12 Carlisle wines.

Let us know about the 13 LL. Been eyeing that one and also the 13 Hayne.

Opened a 14' DuPratt last night and it took over 3 hours for this to fully open up and was still powerful.

I still have a smattering of 08-11 but these 12s are terrific so far.

Opened a 2015 Papera Ranch Zin to go with some pulled pork tonight. It’s been in the decanter about an hour. How long have folks been letting these decant?

2007 Dry Creek Valley Syrah- nice but time to drink up. Opened up with black fruit and decent balance but after a few hours the alchol began to detract. Looked it up on Mike's drinking chart and he agrees- drink by 2020.

2014 Rosella's Syrah- stellar syrah and probably just entering its prime drinking window. I have had a lot of Carlisle syrah's and this rates right up there with the best ones they have produced.

12 Limerick Lane missed the high-points of the others from this discovered case. It opened full of Zinberry but sort of fell apart in under 90 minutes.

Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
Feeling frisky last Friday so let loose on a 15 James Berry - on one hand more tame than the Saxum version, but likely this is due to the higher Grenache content vs. I think Carlisle was pretty much 100% Syrah. Still, structured to the hilt and destined for a long, long life.

Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
Yes, any James Berry is a good time in my book! But a more practical answer would relate to how many bottles you have. 1 to 2 hold for 3 to 5 years - > 3 then yeah no harm enjoying. Full disclosure: I only had 2 so don’t listen to meC. Heinsen wrote: ↑October 26th, 2020, 6:10 pmWas it drinking alright right now? The 2007 James Berry Syrah. Absolutely gorgeous, makes me wonder why I stopped buying it after this vintage (not being a big Syrah fan, I only buy Papa's and Sonoma).

Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
2017 Papera Ranch Zinfandel. Paired with brisket and ribs from one of our favorite local bbq restaurants. One of the best pairings I’ve ever had. The smokiness and richness of the meat just blended perfectly into the earthy notes of the wine that then blended into a dark, if not dried, fruit. Think raisins, plums, dark jam.
Really glad I have two of these left. May need to hunt for a few more.

Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
The tannins will keep the wine going for many years; the question is how well the abundant fruit will stand up. I'm a big fan saving birth year wines, so I would probably hold it. If not for that, I would enjoy it now for its great fruit and balance.

Re: Which Carlisle are you drinking?
Uncorked a 2014 Papera today.
Decanted for 2 hrs and I've been sipping it for about 8 hrs.
Beautiful nose of sweet black fruit and some cherries. once past the lips, long lasting and perfectly balanced. Bright fruit, acidity, and tannin all in sync. Really started to purr after hour #6. Spice, tart cherries, and some blue fruit on the finish.
thankfully have one left!!!

2014 Carlisle Zinfandel Dupratt Vineyard - Starting to try some of Mike's 14's . . . I've been drinking Carlisle zinfandels for almost 2 decades and probably drink more of these than any other wine. So when I say "WOW" it's really a standout for me. Loved this one! Bright fruit and interesting spices. I saved half the bottle and will revisit tonight. Delicious.

How will this release be different from previous release schedules given Mike’s comments on extending 2018s through three releases to put some more time in bottle? Has anyone seen the 2018 James Berry in the previous two releases? I’m looking for that one.
