Crap. My mistake. But, of course you know that. Anything else you'd like to add? Maybe make fun of my mother?

Mom jokes are a little passé nowadays...but alas, still humorous in an over-jocularity sort of way...

In all seriousness, the Carter Three Kings is a pretty bad a** wine. The Myriad Three Twins is a killer deal for what's in the bottle by comparison, but the Carter is definitely worth the extra wallet-stretch and has more of that "epic" feel and quality about it.

The 2012, 2013, and 2014 Carter Three Kings are all in that 97 point range for me (specific notes on Cellar Tracker). Dropping the coin on those wines is well worth it. They will not disappoint!

Do it... But now... Obey... Do it... ;)

Had the '13 Napa Cab for the 6 or 7th time last night. PnP and gone in a flash, just so damn good. I have a question for those that have tasted the '14: I have the ability to pick up more 2013's basically at release cost and am wondering if my money would be better spent backfilling on those or if I should put it towards the 2014's. This is specifically for the Napa Cab as I plan on picking up a few G3 and 3 Twins during next week's release regardless. Let me know what you guys think and thanks in advance!

I just opened a 2013 Myriad Napa cab. Poured a sip and put the rest in a decanter. Very nice wine, a little big but has so much potential. I really wish I had ordered more. I am going have to give serious consideration to my 2014 order. I had to skip the Myriad and Quivet Syrah releases and the Quivet cab release due to vacation and home renovations, but I will not pass on the Myriad cabs.

What are some of the better Mike Smith wines under $100? Read a lot of good on the Myriad Cabs but which under 100 stand out most? Also which at the other wineries?

Under $100, the Myriad 'Three Twins Vineyard' cab (currently $80 on release) is one of my favorites. So good.

Carter Fortuna - $95
12C G3 -$99
12C - $75

Like the other wines mentioned, these all drink way above their price point in my opinion.

The Scarlett Reserve, Myriad Dr. Crane, Quivet LPV, and Carter wines (especially LPV and OG) are all worth the extra wallet-stretch beyond $100+ as well.

I just finished off the 2013 Myriad cab I opened three days ago. It went from a little big on night one to fecking awesome on day two, and held strong on day three. Suttle fruit, Bordeaux flavor profile, nose to kill for. It will make you believe in God. And his name is Mike Smith.

I had the 11' last night and it didn't disappoint I was a little concerned considering the "weak vintage" but wanted to try one before the next offer came out.

2012 Carter Grand Daddy. Specific notes on Cellar Tracker. Really starting to get into its stride. Typical GD plushness and flashy fruit-forward style. The kind of wine that's everybody's best friend at the party!

'14 Myriad Napa Valley
How Mike stuffs so much goodness into a bottle for $60 is beyond me. Lots of baby fat to shed here, oak and tannin to soften but really delicious. On night two it started to soften up. Have 1/3 bottle for night three. Looking forward to it.

Just curious, what is your preferred method for overnight storage on a wine like this? Cork back in and in the fridge/cellar? Thanks.

I put the cork back in and stuck it in the fridge. The next night I pulled the bottle, poured a glass and left both sitting out to come to temp. Afterwards back in the fridge for tonight. It's young so I want it to get the air but not the daytime temps.

2015 Quivet Cellars 'McGah Vineyard' Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp and citrus-tinged without coming across as overly acidic. Nice clean finish. A great companion to parmesan and panko crusted cod this evening.

Quivet 2011 Kenefick Ranch is just what one wants from edgy, modern. Napa Cabernet. Powerhouse, but not without interest. If the mood strikes this will satisfy!

I must admit, I am a little afraid of 2011s.
I only own 3-4 and sampled 40-50.
I own RM Panek and Quivet Kendrick.

Last weekend I opened a 2007 Spring Mountain Cab. My second year buying from Mike (started with the 2006 vintage). It aged nicely and I found myself drinking most of the bottle!

This week 2. The 08 Quivet Kenefick and last night the 11 Myriad Sugarloaf. Don't be afraid of the 2011's. This wine was deep, dark and delicious. Lots of structure and balance. The 08 was good, but maybe in a dumb phase.

2008 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard - HUGE nose and just flat out delicious cab.

2015 Myriad Cellars Sémillon McGah Family Vineyard SÉMILLON - Citrus notes with a good amount of acidity - easy drinking on a warm September evening.

  • 2012 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/27/2017)
Decanted for an hour and drank over the next two. On PnP, the nose is huge with blue and black fruit and some floral. For the first few hours, the palate is dominated by bright blue fruit with massive tannins on the back end. After three hours, this calms down and the black fruit and floral take the forefront. Still some tannins on the finish but much smoother finish. (93 pts.)
