Some of you may hate SQN - but you're in the minority

Just got an email from Elaine and Manfred and clicked on the link as a result. Got the following message:

"Resource Limit Is Reached
The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later. "

I think you are actually on iTunes today.

They are incredibly popular - and the re-sell values are in the stratosphere.

And I also think they are incredible wines, made by a true artisan.

BUT - I’ll be damned if I can drink them. Just too heavy for me, maybe in two ounce servings, but anymore and I won’t be able to sleep for days…

And congrats to everyone on the list - they are obviously the most collectable wines being produced in California today.

But we are the moral minority.

Wow, you sure showed the haters!

10 bottles in today, 9 more charged today. Churning

I get the same message on porn sites

I will admit to struggle as to how one could “hate” SQN. They are talented, passionate people who have dedicated their life to the attempt to make wonderful product. They charge far less than the market dictates and have a history of very good communication with their customers (current and future).

I can see not liking the wines. But i usually reserve strong negative feelings to people / products that ones that treat people poorly, take advantage / rest on their success, etc - vs a matter of my personal taste.

I would be pretty sure nobody here “hates” SQN. I agree with you, that emotion requires special care to achieve.

Some of the “lovers” probably get verklempt because they don’t feel fully validated by the “don’t carers.”

SQN seems to be the only winery I know of who people post “Everybody can eat me!” threads about during release. What’s up with that?

You obviously didn’t have to dodge out of the way as Mr. Levenberg expelled his SQN at Pratts all those years ago.

I have to admit, I’ve only had their syrah and chardonnay dessert. The syrah was certainly not my style, but I will admit it was a really good example. Dessert wine was slightly too intense. Hard to explain. I really want to try some dry versions of the white rhones they make. I like big white rhones, so they might be my style. I figure I have 6-7 more years till I get on the list. lol

Or read Noble Rot!

also remember that some of the “haters” out there are not really - I worked the pebble beach festival one year and manfred did a seminar which i was lucky to work. a few left over open bottles somehow were brought down to the Sommelier room afterwards and all of a sudden all the “haters” were jumping over each other for some of the wine. “But I thought you hated SQN…?”

Some may hate it, but then some can’t even afford to taste it. Think about us po folks! :stuck_out_tongue:

I assume you are being bombastic about this? All this means is that the webserver of their e-commerce site was temporarily unavailable. Kinda like they just didn’t put enough money in the meter.

SQN is a porn site. Long live the moral minority!

Totally agree. I personally find the wines largely undrinkable, but that is just my style preference. As for the company and the brand, I have nothing but respect for what they have built. I have some friends who have been on the list for years and the one thing they constantly rave about is the customer service. A brand as successful as SQN could let things go to their head, but by all accounts they haven’t let that happen.

Oh Jay…
