2005 Chateau La Rose Brisson Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

non-commercial post: I imported this wine in tiny quantities in earlier vintages and the owner is an old friend.

Deep crimson color belies age. Aromas show it, with mature ripe red plums and touches of red and black currants. The palate is finely textured, medium in body with good glycerin, moderate tannins mostly resolved and nicely balanced acidity. The flavors reprise the aromas but now with some hints of both green herbs and white spices, far enough in the background to add delicate pleasing touches to a harmonious bottle. Almost ready to drink, rated 90.3 tonight, a half to a full point of improvement likely over the next few years.

Sounds lovely, never had this estate. Will sniff around locally.

Dan, The last I remember you bringing in was the 1998 which I liked quite a bit. If you aren’t bringing it in now… where did you find it. Probably in France, hey?
Cheers, Gary
