Searching for a thread..

I’m sure there’s got to be a thread somewhere discussing how long particular wines (whether by age, variety, where they’re from, etc) are good for after opening the bottle… given all the options one has for drinking/saving things across multiple days. But I’m totally unsure of how to find that thread(s).

Anyone remember any memorable or interesting threads on this topic?

Don’t recall anything… But it depends mostly on HOW you save the wine. I.e. it’s best, I think, to immediately save a stoppered full half bottle in the fridge, or a mostly filled half bottle. That minimizes oxygen exposure (though some young wines, or fuller bodied ones, can take the oxygen pretty well). Depending on the air space, many wines will keep well for a week. But if you work on a bottle all night, and then save what’s left, it will depend on the age and body of the wine as to how well it can take the oxygen exposure that has occurred.

Indeed, that’s (pour off/stopper the extra or excess immediately) what I usually try to do when I’m at home!
