Last 10 wines you drank. Tells us something about what you like.

We did this once before and it was fun. What are the last 10 wines you’ve drank? I bounce around in grapes, regions and price points. Some of these occurred on the same night.

  1. 2010 Mount Eden Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

  2. 2012 Anthill Farms PN Peters Vineyard

  3. 2013 Mc Manis Family Petite Syrah

  4. 2001 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle

  5. 2001 Rostaing La Ladonne Cote Rotie

  6. 1996 Trapet (Jean & Jean Louis) Gevery Chambertin - Chapelle

  7. 2013 Famiglia Meschini Unoaked Chardonnay Argentina

  8. 2011 Ravoire Bandol Le Port

  9. 2010 Dubreuil Fontaine Pernand Vergelessese Il Des Vergeslesses 1er Cru

  10. 2012 JP Droin Chablis Vallions ler Cru

  11. 2008 Yves Ruffin Champagne Cuvee Precieuse (Marne) ( drank on same night as a few of the others)

Craig, how was that Dubreuil-Fontaine doing?

This will be a bit rough:

2006 Ch. des Tours Vacqueyras
2010 Ch. des Tours CdR Rouge
2010 Domaine des Tours VdP Rouge
2013 Sigalas Santorini Assurtiko
Skouras ??? white
Skouras St. George red
2002 Baumard Savennières
2011 Navarro Pinot Noir L’Ancienne
2012 Guillemot Savigny Serpentieres
2013 Navarro Pinot Grigio

The Greek wines are an aberration as we cooked a Greek dinner with two other couples last night. Tours is my top Rhone producer by bottles and Guillemot my top Burgundy. We’ve had a lot of Navarro since visiting this summer.

According to CellarTracker, here are the last 10 I pulled from my cellar. In addition to these, though, I’ve had other wines at tastings, etc.

1999 Louis Jadot Charmes-Chambertin
2002 Maison Patrice Rion Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots
1991 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Bosconia
2002 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Pommard 1er Cru Les Épenots
2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

1991 Simi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Alexander Valley
1999 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cascina Francia
1999 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga d’Alba

I’ve also had a couple of bottles of NV Billecart-Salmon rosé Champagne, which weren’t entered into CellarTracker.

Craig,

I have a couple if the Jaboulet La Chapelles. How was it drinking? 2001 N. Rhones to my tastes seem to want more time.

Give or take an oversight:

2004 Moet & Chandon Cuvee Dom Perignon

2008 Soos Creek Champoux Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills
2013 Matthiasson Tendu California Red Blend
2008 Pyramid Valley Pinot Noir Growers Collection Riverbrook Vineyard
2008 Stefania Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains

What I liked…

The Matthiasson for it being a delicious qpr that I can open with a bottle cap opener.
The Pyramid for reminding me that excellent Pinot can be made anywhere
The d’Angerville for re affirming for me a producer I like and will likely buy more
and… the Hofgut Sekt - because it went so well with chips and salsa while watching the Jets be embarrassed yet again.

Craig, I think it was closing down. Pretty tight. I have TNs on CT under my handle chablis28.

I think you’re right, at least about the Chapelle. It was open for business and fun to drink but I could see the tannins being in a better place in 3-5yrs. Most at the table did really enjoy the Chapelle though right now. The 01 Rostaing La Landonne, conversely is nearing it peak and I will drink my last one or 2 within a couple years. TNs on CT at my handle chablis28.

2013 Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble Rosé
NV Charles de Cazanove Champagne Brut
2010 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Les Romains
2010 Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Les Souteyrades

Far more Euro-centric than is typical for me, but does show my typical price point and varietal hopping; as well as the relative youth of my cellar. The Behrens was the only wine of the lot I scored above 90, so I’m due for some great wine!

NV Ramos-Pinto 20 Year Tawny Quinta do Bom Retiro - This was bottled in 1999. Very nice, no heat on the finish. Would buy again.
2012 Domaine Drouhin Arthur Chardonnay - Very happy another case is to arrive tomorrow
2010 Brickhouse Chardonnay - Yum
1992 Beaux Freres Estate Pinot - Best one of these to date, almost in the outstanding category
2006 Le Cadeau Cote Est Pinot Mag - Better than expected
2007 Le Cadeau Cote Est Pinot Mag - Better than expected and fun to try next to the 2006
2007 Rochioli Estate Pinot - Matched well with some grilled Ahi.
1969 Jouvet Cote De Nuits-Villages - An old dirty burg
2004 Beaux Freres Estate Pinot - Really in a nice place
2003 Beaux Freres Upper Terrace Pinot - Damn surprising for the vintage, wonderful wine

2011 Overnoy Chardonnay **
2012 Dauvissat Chablis AOC *

(out of 4 stars)

The Bachelet, Ridge, and Overnoy were all too young…probably unfair to grade them. The Prevost and LdH’s were the two outstanding wines of the past 10. LdH is so youthful and bright at this point hardly showing much of the character of an aged LdH yet, but still delivering tons of enjoyment. Prevost, was a profound champagne. The best young bubbler I can remember having.

No idea.

Had a 2004 Montevetrano last night. Needs more time.
