I can't do the full weekend , but I'm considering doing the Sunday "Passport to Pinot" event. For those of you that have attended before, please share your impressions...as in was it a good time, did you taste great wines, was it educational?

If you want a lower scale, but comfortable room, the Holiday Inn express is fairly new and the price is right leaving more for wine [cheers.gif] .

One of our most favorite places for dinner is T Maccarone's. Whitehouse-Crawford is a good restaurant as well.

Two points I failed to mention earlier. The St. Charles streetcar, as mentioned earlier, is a must and second, be careful when walking around in the Garden District as the sidewalks are in a state of disarray. Great notes Phillip. I've not had an En Chamberlin (been wish listing them for a while too) but the other Cayuse wines I've been fortunate to get have not disappointed. Your descriptors fit with several other Cayuse wines BTW.

I drove over there back in November and tasted through their lineup. Call me impressed with their effort. My favorites were the Collaboration Series II, IV and the Reserve Syrah. Marietta Old Vines Red. If you're not familiar with it, it's a Zin based blend that is always a crowd-pleaser when we serve it do "new" wine drinkers and it works very well with burgers. Oh, and it's ~$12.00 per bottle!

We stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans on our honeymoon. We just loved it. I wouldn't stay anywhere but the Quarter. Thanks T-Bone...I'll take a look at the Loew's website. Any comments on either the Omni Royal Orleans or the Royal Sonesta Hotel down in the French Quarter? There's some appeal to the old style southern hotel to me. Or would staying in the quarter be a mistake?
