the guy I buy from at JJBuckley had an interesting take, noting that volumes offered have been pretty low this campaign so far. he thinks its because chateaus are holding back significant quantities for a price bump down the road.

opened up a 2008 Canon St Emilion tonight. beautiful wine. Deep, dark, and rich, but balanced well. oak may dominate just a little bit with vanilla being a prominent note but this is very good. may need to search another out for later!

I agree on the cheese thing. I don’t normally picture Chianti as a cheese tortellini wine. I picture it as a white beans, rabbit, liver pate, ragu, or steak wine though for sure.
