This 2012 earned WOTN about a year ago in a $40 and under blind cab tasting. It’s better than the 2013. Thanks for excellent note John!

We flew into Seattle (I will consider Portland next time) got in early and spent the afternoon in Woodinville. That was plenty for us as we prefer being out in the vineyards (YMMV). We had a 2014 CVR last week. Gave it a 5 hour decant and it was very good. While still young it was very enjoyable. A solid QPR compared to their other bottles.

My Dad and a few friends drink Barcelo Imperial as their QPR sipper. My Dad finds the Diplomatico a bit too sweet. Albert, get your dad a bottle of Brugal 1888 for a much higher caliber drink. Becklyn 2016, give it a 2 hour decant and you will be glad you did. The nose really kicks in and the fruit comes alive and the oak takes a back seat. Tannins are not harsh at all for being so young. I will allow the rest of my bottles rest a few years and probably check in on a 2012 or 2014 next.

I did not get the wish-listed T5 therefore I am bummed but hey more $$$ for other favorite producers. For the record I have been purchasing since 2012 and the last two years at a rate of 1 1/2 cases per release minimum.

I have 99% of my wine delivered to the local FedEx Store. They are great! During the holidays I get the manager and some staff if they have been there long enough gift cards. 2006 EMH Cabernet Sauvignon Black Cat - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/1/2019) Pop and poured. This is in a great place right now. It has shed any harsh tanin. Sweet without sugar, moderately fruity but not over the top. Some level of spice. A bit of earthiness but no tertiary leathery type stuff...

This thread prompted me to pop a 2017 Bedrock Dolinsek Ranch Heritage. Flat out delicious, I defy you not to like it. My wife, who rarely comments on red wine, is loving it. Quite aromatic, very bright and peppery red fruits.

We had the 12 x block on Thursday. Fantastic nose that continued to get better. Similar medium weight and nicely balanced. Very good.

For us it’s 3 years for the OZV and 5-8 years for the SVD’s. As some have mentioned, go ahead and try some. Just give them at least an hour decant and save some to follow over 2-3 days.

I also recommend scheduling a tasting at Rotie with Maddie. Excellent wines and host. Saffron as mentioned above was excellent. Brasserie Four was a bust for us as the service left much to be desired.
