How many corkscrews do you own?

Have a bit over a dozen including all the usual suspects but nothing expensive. Most are in the "wine drawer" in the kitchen along with a pile of those bottle stoppers (that never get used), old corks from special bottles and my favorite Stroh's brewery bottle opener that has to date back to the 60's.

The 2017 Rose Thread

Picked up a case of '16 Scherrer Rose. Fred opened one for us to taste when we were there in March right after he had finished bottling the whole lot. This was a no-brainer at around $22 per. Bright red cherry, hints of strawberry and watermelon, zippy acidity, crisp, fresh, just an excellent syrah/...

Tasting rooms in Alsace, Rhone and Burgundy

We visited Alsace for a week last June. On our first day we hired a tour guide. Since it was Sunday there weren't many wineries open so we went to two of the big ones, Pfaff and Wolfberger. Both were nice but nothing like the places we visited later. We stayed in Colmar and on our second day we stum...

Went to a tasting at one of our local wine stores today featuring six wines from Portugal. Some interesting blends of a number of grapes I haven't had before. The first two were whites that were quite nice, the Loureiro was citrus and minerals and the Espaco Rural Bojador Branco had more floral note...

Brian, thank you very much for bringing that over. I know that we didn't give it the proper treatment but when you're in a rental and the only thing close to a decanter is a beer pitcher, well you do what you can. Patrick these were PnP'd. Obviously very young and fruit forward, but still well balanced and easy to consume with no harsh notes. I'm still going to try to let what I have in the cellar rest for a couple years but if I happen to get an itch to open one early, I know I won't be disappointed.
