Re: 2018 Ridge Monte Bello futures offer

Here's my take. For 2018, Cab Sauv component was simply stunning. That bodes well for the Cab used for the Estate wine. I felt Merlot was too sweet, less savory than past vintages. Also, lacked structure. I hope less is used than usual in the final blend. Petit Verdot was all structure which should ...

Wes, what are your thoughts on the 2016?
I think the first chance to taste ‘16 Estate will be this weekend. I’ll be there on Sunday as will Wes. ‘15 Estate is simply terrific. I had a 30% off coupon so at $42, it was an absolute steal.

Bassetti's aren't ready (especially 2005) although if you want to try them to see if you want to buy more, I get that! Steve encouraged me to buy a bottle of El Nino on the previous library sale. I'm glad he did.

The other problem with Gewurz is that alcohol levels are higher due to climate change. Gewurz is like Zinfandel in that the brix levels in the grapes will climb quickly with any sign of heat. When I was there last January, I noticed alcohol/heat in the Gewurz's that I tasted at Trimbach and Dirler-C...
