I'm in for the first time - any idea what I can expect in terms of allocations? My completely wild-ass guess is around a half-dozen bottles total spread amongst the higher production SVDs... given the number on wines in the fall release, expect a larger (non-guaranteed) allocation than that. someth...

Re: RUDY KURNIAWAN SPECTRUM / VANQUISH WINE AUCTION FRAUD THREAD (MERGED)

The point of the article was that fraud is not just an auction problem. Retail can be just as problematic. Though there are clearly, IMPO, some auction houses that are doing a better job than others..... Other than collections of wines that came primarily from 'particular single seller sales' the v...

All of my older wines were acquired in the past year. Before that, it would have been some 95 Napa Cabs.

Re: TN: Aged Bordeaux and Cali

One hopes the '73 Duckhorn was a typo in your TN, because their first vintage was 1978. You were really lucky with the '70 LMHB...the last time I had a bottle not ruined by excessive VA was in 1996! My apologies, after some research, it appears it was a 1983 Duckhorn. I will edit my TN accordingly....

Eric, I really like the updated version of where the wine is stored in your cellar. It used to just say 'cellar' or 'locker,' but now indicates where each bottle is to the degree that info is provided in CT (e.g. cellar/rack A). Its really helpful, as I used to have to navigate a bit further to get ...

Reading through his/her notes is quite interesting. I can't tell the difference in the notes for wines scoring 79-90. I suspect this is a good example of the poor use of 80's in people's scoring.

Thanks for the TN's. Do you find the Geyserville's have a longer life than the other Ridge Zins? My limited experience suggests the Geyerservilles need more time in the bottle before they're ready to drink, so I was wondering if that translates on the back end of the wine's life.

This is a broad question. If you have no idea, then I would consider going to Napa for a few days. I would try to find a couple of wineries you are really interested in and then ask others...
