Re: $175+ is the new $125 in Napa, will market support ?

While there are many Napa Cabs that have had large price increases in the last few years, one can still find some very good bottles for $125 or less. Dunn Howell Mountain, Mondavi Reserve, Mayacamas, Forman, La Jota, Mt. Brave, EMH, Montelena, O'Shaughnessy, Arns, etc. And for many of these, back-f...

I’ve had the 2004 Left Blank a few years ago and it was great. It didn’t have the plastic cork. I just bought the 2009 cemetery and Labor of love at auction and they are both fantastic. I really like most of their wines when they are young. I know others have had bad experiences with the synthetic c...

Word on the street is the new room at federal was Ned Johnson’s (Fidelity) former cellar he kept at his office. Federal took over the space.

The whiskey selection at federal is very good too.

Don’t be shocked when you walk in. It looks like a mom and pop packy at first blush.

Re: Wine stores in Boston

Your best bet in town is Federal wine. They opened up a new fine and rare room downstairs that has a lot of good stuff. You’ll have to ask to go in there it’s not part of the normal store.

In the suburbs Gordon’s in Waltham and Marty’s in Newton are both good.
