Thanks for the heads up. That’s too bad, I know at one point they had someone steal quite a few bottles out of the wine room. I used to be able to buy Ridge MB and Billecart Salmon for great prices there.

Opolo Summit and Mountain Zins are usually in the 17-23 dollar range. Maybe some of the Ancient Peaks stuff? That usually works for casual drinkers.

Porter Creek is great. Last time we were there they let my kids play with the chickens and we brought our glasses out to taste. Everyone had a blast. Timbervine and the Viognier are usually what we leave with.

Pali has a tasting room in Little Italy. Orfilia has a decent sized tasting room in Escondido towards the Safari Park. We have some friends that are members there. They’re getting better, but I’m not a buyer yet.

Hi Eric, we've had luck at Dragonette and Babcock. At Dragonette they have coloring books and at Babcock they have checkers and a nice grass field outside. The folks at Tensley were good to my 3 toddlers as well. If you go down to Lompoc Dan Kessler has been very accommodating at Kessler-Haak.

Just wanted to add that if I was going to suggest a single variety for a home vineyard it would be petite manseng. It's incredibly easy to grow with good resistance to mildew and rot. It does ripen late but it retains acidity and can be made dry or sweet. I see no reason why one couldn't sparkle it...

We've been drinking the 2012 Kessler Haak Ohana as a daily drinker around here. Costco has that and the 14 estate Chard for 18.99. The Chardonnay has been nice, but the Pinot at that price has been lights out.
