Re: Temperature Fluctuations In Passive Cellars

I think 45-65 is fine. I also look at this when shipping wine, daytime high and nighttime low. If your cellar air temperature is going from 45- 65 your wine is never with of those. A wine cellar full of bottles of wine has a huge thermal mass and the liquid will be near the average for the majority...

Contact Andrew at Briceland, he is really passionate and his customer service is top notch, I am sure he would be happy to answer questions. I added Halcon this year for BD, but have yet to drink one. Hi Ian, Thanks for the mention....

Thanks for thinking of us, Mark. For the record, I am not a fan of the prevailing style of CA Zins. In my view, many are picked too late so that site and vintage traits are washed out by jammy, porty notes. I like port, but not in my red wine. Thank you Andrew. So, you discount an additional 5-10% on top of what you sell to distr/retailer for?
My discount is off of the wholesale price which is 2/3 of winery retail. I do not offer the discount on wines that are sure to sell out that season. I currently do not sell to a distributor.

I am far from an expert on this, but I will happily share my results. I don't discount more than 5-10% to get BTG sales. There is one resort at which BTG sales has gotten me quite a few winery visits. I do believe that the other BTG programs build loyalty, but that is hard to measure. Hope that helps.

Oak is not fruit, I think. High acidity accentuates fresh fruit aromas and flavors. Exactly, Peter. I can think of a number of wines that are fruit forward but nowhere near "modern."
