No kidding. Being in New Orleans there’s maybe 4-6 months that temps are cool enough to ship here. But depending on where I’m ordering from 2-4 of those months may be too cold somewhere in between. Threading the needle to get wine in here. You can always take a few of your bottles, box them up, and...

Having this tonight after a 1 hour decant. A slightly lighter style Pegau. Color is a deep garnet, bit of roast meat, pan fond on the nose waiting to be released. Palate is a carry’s through that roast meat with some black plum, shorter finish.

Feel free to buy wines out of your comfort zone. I really like looking for new producers each year.

Bid on the auctions.

Still also see times where I have taken a break from wines for a couple weeks, and then really get back into them with appreciation.

My father in-law who lives with us drinks sub-$15 Cabernets. Every now and then try them and they really are industrial wine with no varietal distinction

A trick in a baking class I once took, when making scones was how to cut up the butter/lard. Both were kept frozen, the used a box grater, the larger holes to get nice pea size pieces of the fat. This was done directly into the dry mixture so if was coated with flour. Should also work with biscuits

Pumpkin oil is a great idea - most people have never seen it (I got it as a gift from a friend in austria) and it’s dichromatic, which makes it fun to play with. I used it for an ice cream topping, which might be a bit out of the ordinary, but was good!
