Re: New York City Restaurants

[The Shojin cuisine at Kajitsu] is very subtle, and based on a totally different sensibility than western cuisine. I get why not everyone likes it, and why lots of people go to Japan and are disappointed with some traditional high-end restaurants that have this sensibility. There is no philosophy o...

A surprising white and a minor miracle

First, the white. Had never heard of this one. It was on the list at Marna. Really grabbed me: 2015 Guido Marsella Fiano di Avellino - Italy, Campania, Fiano di Avellino DOCG (5/5/2019) *** Medium body, with excellent balance and length. Smooth, but not at all oily. Of course, that doesn't do it jus...

Yes, and come to think of it, whatever you think of his rating methods, he made a significant contribution to the idea that what's important is how wine actually tastes, not how well known it is or hype.

In Spain I once had a dessert that was just a very good navel orange, perfectly ripe, cut in slices and drizzled with a bit of EVOO (with maybe a touch of cinnamon in the oil, I forget). I didn't think it would be very good, tried it just to see, and was I surprised!

Hardy is making a good point. You have 11 days, so it might be much more relaxed, and give you more time to see things other than hotel clerks, if you pick say 2 places to stay and then make day trips from each of these.

Go to advanced search
