Re: 2020 Falltacular Main Event--Saturday, 2/22/2020 at my place in the OC

And I want to thank all of the donors--both the wineries and the guests--who will make the silent auction possible. It's clear to me now that 2020 will be our best and biggest silent auction in our 14 years. Here is a raw list of everything that is going to be auctioned (thus far, with more still t...

Re: A toast to Burt Willaims: 86` Sonoma County Pinot

Resurrecting this thread because I drank a 1986 Williams-Selyem Sonoma County Pinot Noir yesterday. The wine was similar in appearance to Blake's, if anything a touch more saturated in hue, though hard to be sure from photos. The extremely complex nose showed a strong Summa presence, which makes se...

Steve - How is the 17 compared to the 16? I know 17 was a more challenging vintage but just checking your thoughts on tasting differences? Hi Nick, My early expectations for this vintage were lower than the previous (wonderful) years, just on weather challenges, but we seemed to avoid any troubles ...

Otherwise Vilmart and Roederer, who is just on fire lately.

However, like the label said reserve, I sensed something held back or in reserve. Such, I’ll drink my regular bottl...

A recent mix of lots of different styles: 1) 2004 Comte - super, tasting blanc de blanc with yellow fruit, plenty of acidity but just enough roundness. Perfect balance. 2) Larmandier Bernier (2006 according to the back label), served a bit warm to start, showed a touch of oxidation. A proper chill i...

The '09 Roederer Starck is pretty darn lean and tastes more shrill that zero dose wines I've had from Laherte and Bouchard (the latter two feeling as natural as a still white wine). By contrast, the Starck is definitely a bit enamel stripping, but tolerable. I liked it with sushi, especially since ...
