Trujillo Wine

I tasted the 2014 Trujillo and the 2013 and 2014 Madelynne yesterday. 2014 Trujillo was a beautiful wine that will need some waiting to develop into a wine that reminds me at this stage of the 2007 Karl Lawrence. The fruit is dark and there is some spice and a hint of cocoa. Excellent balance and mo...

Trujillo Wine

I opened a bottle of the 2011 Trujillo which is 92% cab and 8% petite verdot and merlot. Immediately the room filled with aromas of dark fruit, spice, and a dusty cocoa. Those flavors continue on to the palate where we found a balance and elegant wine. It was medium bodied with a medium finish. Deli...

What wine figure has had the biggest impact on you?

Peter Buffo - my grandfather and home winemaker who let me make wine when I was seven years old - not the best wine in the world but I loved the challenge Rod Berglund - the person who got me hooked on Pinor noir and is the keeper of the flame in RRV. An absolutely great person. Tom Dehlinger - he a...

Trujillo Wine

I had this wine a couple of weeks ago from a 375. It was smooth and silky with great dark fruit and a round balanced mouthfeel. I bought a case.

Karl Lawrence Cellars 487

The KL Napa offering was typically a blend of Morisoli and Herb Lamb fruit. The wine making was under Mike's supervision. The KL of the future will not have Mike as winemaker. I have no idea what the fruit sources will be but I doubt they will be the same. Mike is concentrating on his own label - Tr...

2011 Dehlinger PN

I've been drinking Dehlinger Pinot noir since 1990. For my palate, they seem to drink really well in the four to seven year window. There are exceptions (I am holding a 1997 Octagon) but this has worked well for us. I have not tsted the 2011s.

Trujillo Wine

This is Mike Trujillo's inaugural vintage of his personal label. The 2011 vintage wine is ready for sale at http://trujillowines.com. I have been buying Karl Lawrence since 1991 and have always enjoyed the winemaking style and price point. While I have not tasted this vintage, I did buy some 750s an...
