Re: Mark Squires' BB to close for good - UPDATED (WA sold to Michelin)

I think that over the last few years the significance of the Robert Parker name has become more of a historical nod rather than having any real impact with consumers. Wine stores that I have visited in the last several years make no reference to Parker in quoted reviews merely annotating "WA" on the...

Is there still room for 3 more?

I haven't tried this restaurant yet so I don't know the setup for a good sized group. As far as theme goes do we want to continue a high end Cab theme or go with more variety? If there is room for us I'm open to whatever.

Is Anyone Buying/Following Kapcsandy?

I still get offers from Kapcsandy Family Wines but have mostly stopped buying as the prices escalated. The 2016s sound pretty tempting aside from the price, although the Estate Cuvee is still somewhat reasonable considering the overall Napa pricing of Cab blends. Is anyone still buying any of these,...

If your business plan is well conceived and executed a bumper crop should earn you more money as long as you can sell the wine. If you have a supply/demand curve that you are normally on the short supply side of (more people waiting to get on your list e.g.) you should be able to absorb some or all ...

Re: Does Modern Bdx Need 20-Years of Aging to Drink Well?

Jürgen, I agree that a wider drinking window is an advantage as long as the peak is not blunted or lowered. I don’t think it’s less rustic tannins that have people concerned about the ability of many modern Bordeaux to develop the classic complexity we seek at 20-30+ years out. It’s increased ripen...
