I recently drank 2 older CH wines 2008 Lot 200 and 2009 Lot 303 and was very impressed, I hadn't had one in years and used to purchase as cellar defenders. I would say those 2 wines to me comped with $60-75 Napa cabs, which we drink a lot of.

Its funny, I tend to like full throttle, fruit forward, extracted, new world style wine. I always think of Sierra Nevada or Lagunita's in the same light. After 1 IPA, I seem to always find myself regretting the decision and gravitating towards Pilsner or Hefeweizen. Or crushing a crap ton of Coors ...

I have found, for my taste, the Paderewski gives the most pleasure young. Although I have never been afraid to drink any of them young and prefer to drink them "too early" as opposed to too late.

We drank this NYE along side the Taittinger 06 Comtes, and agree that it lacks complexity, but we didn't notice any overt sweetness,to me it was fruit dominant but more of a slightly underipe green apple with citrus notes. No brioche yeast notes.

It all depends on preference, i had a 92' for my anniversary in 2017 that was very similar to the 12' but would have to say I enjoyed the 12' a little bit more.
