The labels listed specific AVAs from Oregon, but the wine is made in California.

Sorry I don't have more time to get into this as I'm waiting in line at the coffee shop

When I was a retail buyer, I took every single case the distributor would allow. The wines are that good across varietals and labels.

An example concerning the possibility of fakes

The second label was affixed immediately and shipped to the restaurant. They have an excellent cellar with humidity, hence the darker color of the paper. The first label came from a drawer in Jacques's "office" and printed on his printer for the bottles in the cellar. It was affixed later to avoid d...

Love this wine and in this vintage!

People used to "challenge" me with food pairings, so I'd suggest Grüner for the tough ones. The more difficult the pairing, the more I'd pick Grüner!

I'll chime in to agree the 85 Ports are great values.
It's my wife's birth year as well.

In no particular order and off the top of my head, these are some of the highlights:
Cristal
Fonseca
Quinta do Noval
Leoville Barton
Couly-Duthiel Chinon Clos de l'Echo
Baumard Quarts de Chaume

They're going to use the Whole Foods' footprints to fulfill orders. This brings them in line with many states with laws restricting a company from owning more than one tier of the three tier system in said states.

I hate fake corks

Regards Ian *Arguably there is a better, albeit still tricky option, to push the 'cork' into the bottle. It will probably make a mess, but that can be cleaned up. Pushing the cork OUT is easier and less messy than pushing one in. Obviously, this method should be reserved for wines without sediment.

For me, experiencing "bad runs" of cork taint can rise to an 8% failure rate. While, typically, the rate is closer to 2% (still too high).

Retailers not honoring pricing

Regardless of the law, the retailer should have honored the price. I've told the story of going into a wine shop(Pinos' in New Jersey) and seeing a 70's DRC Montrachet for $79(this was in the 80's, but still). It was in a locked case and the owner had to open it for me. He looked at the price on th...
