Re: Seattle Offline - January 18, 2020

Thanks Jim and Yvette for hosting a great evening. Despite my aversion to brett, I rather enjoyed most of the wines - particularly both the Couly-Dutheils. I also thought the 2010 Raffault Singuliere was great and showed a real intensity that differentiated it from the other younger wines. As for th...

Re: TN: 1999 Chateau Lanessan. This is why we do it.

Lanessan, Cantermerle, Sociando - I don't really need anything else from Bordeaux. For regular drinking, this is where I am at as well. I bet these 3 wines make up 80% of my Crus and maybe 40% of my overall Bordeaux holdings. These are solid base hitters in most games, and occasionally hit doubles ...

Bump.

Anyone here buy from Fat Cork? I have a couple co-workers (who are by no means wine geeks) that belong to this club and tell me it's fantastic. I am not very knowledgeable about champagne and am considering joining. Any insight on the selections and value?

I'm sure they did the right thing and I'm not questioning the move.

However, I'd be interested in how this actually affects the wine. I assume it is food grade paraffin wax, which is edible - found on many apples, for example. Most people would not consider apples contaminated by wax.
