Just needed to get that out there. Why? It isn’t any more likely to be true. A brief spasm of optimism that putting it out there might make it otherwise. newhere I’m not even sure why you would want it to be so unless you don’t like burgundy. Those who love it love mature burgundy the most. Unless ...

Mushrooms are great. In particular, anything with porcini or chanterelle mushrooms (my Costco has chanterelles) You could pre cook the eggplant at home the night before and bake the parm on site. I agree on two bases, but Florence is super easy by train from Milan (under two hours). And not that hard from the lakes (Varenna, a smaller town on Lake Como is very accessible by train, under 4 hours to Florence). If you are talking touring the countryside, that's a bit more. I have both.

A big thing in SoCal is how long would things stay cool in case of power outage. My offsite is like an old fashioned ice house, and with all the cold mass in the well insulated room, I’d bet it would be ok for a week if no one goes in or out. At home, maybe a day.

Both the trofie nero with scallops and the scallop main were A+. Dishes were more complex then usual Italian to excellent effect.

I stayed at Tetherow during the solar eclipse. Perfectly fine. Don't remember much because the eclipse blew my mind (as well as the 7 hour drive back to Tetherow from Madras). I think we had a parking lot view at Tetherow which took a little of the shine off.

Re: Please Help me Navigate this Massive Wine List -- Roscioli Restaurant in Rome

Roscioli is just epic on the Roman restaurant scene, an oldie but a goodie. Make sure to get a table upstairs where the atmosphere is more lively (and there's just a tad more seating room as the whole place is quite cramped, often off-puttingly so). I always get either the carbonara or the amatrici...

Oops, ignore the below, this is Rimessa’s list. I thought it was the main place.

It’s not as good as my last visit a few years ago when I had old (88?) Monsanto Il Poggio.

I don’t even see the Pieropan Dennis mentioned in another thread.

I might go Etna Rosso but will check out the suggestions.

I'm always eating fish, prefer local. I found more choice at Cut 432 (but not much more, and the ambiance is poor vs. A&L) than Abe and Louie's. Does Trattoria Romana tend to have fish specials or only the two on their menu?
