We've enjoyed several of the $10 to 15 Calif. Pinot noirs. They taste like Pinot noir which seems hard to do in that price range.

2006 Domaine Triennes red. Cellar diving. Soft but good. 18 bucks. Syrah is the dominate character. A little more acid would have made it great.

The myth of letting wines breathe

Young wines need to breath. Acidic ones in particular. People can believe it or not, but its so self evident I wouldn't bother to debate anyone on it. With older wines it really depends on the wine and usually a full decant will detract from the wine. A slow ox method is much better. That's my expe...

Had the opportunity to try this on Sat - in fact that's why I went to the pickup on Sat since I skipped the Pinots this go-round. Really interesting aromatic nose. Very high acid, really made your mouth water - but not lean, instead fairly rich and dense, an enjoyable combo. Very subtle oak. Overal...

I'll have to try the Jefferson. I really wanted to like the Charleston but it was not to be. My favorite so far was the New Orleans released after Hurricane Katrina. Nice balance of sweetness to acid/aged flavors.
