The "wine critic" market is so fractured now and none of the critics have much name recognition outside their particular genre. And within a genre, people generally have already learned what they do and don't like....

Yikes. Sounds like a terminal case of "don't-give-a-shit-itis" on the part of TW's wine buyers. Have had much better luck trying bargain wines from K&L and even Whole Foods.

Interesting. Hopefully the quality of wine will stay high. As a side note, I definitely hope the tasting experience doesn't change. That was one of the highlights of our last trip out there, the service was impeccable. They were very generous hosts. Agreed they are a must visit on any RRV getaway.

Ripe Cali Pinot is usually never better than it is upon release. (With a handful of exceptions like Pisoni and some of the Talley wines... although the 2016 Pisoni I had recently was 96+ and I'm sorely tested to let it sit.) And some have been truly amazing.

Always liked this vintage, the wines were born open and stayed that way. 2010 had higher highs but much lower lows, and 2008 was surly and never clicked with me. I've almost drunk all mine by now, sadly my last 2009 Spottswoode was the best.
