After some experimentation I'd highly recommend the Moccamaster no 4 filters. $5 for 100 filters is not going to make much of a difference. In fact my observation is that they offer considerable savings since they are less permeable and so require fewer grinds. Also the taste is much better imho.

So I had my second bottle of this tonight. It seems to have emerged from whatever stage it was in. Some earthy secondary notes, palate more integrated. Could smooth out a bit more on the palate, but very pleasant with dinner at my local hangout. [cheers.gif]

Happy to say that I own no KJ wines nor any Beckstoffer vineyard wines. They made their entry into vineyard ownership the same way apparently. For those interested look at Dick Peterson's book.

Frank, not me as I don’t own any. However, we just drank the ‘13 against other Carlisle wines that were not Zin. Many found it profound, it was most certainly dense, and likely as intense as any PS I’ve ever had.

As a person who lives down here, I always have wine shipped in fall, winter, spring. It’s a pretty wide window for shipping. Even over night in the summer is ok. But leaving stuff in your car in the sun is likely a bad idea for wine that is not cheap.

I’d pick a Margaret River Cab. These can have nice herbal and fruity aromatics, juicy and lively mouthfeel and are not heavy or tannic.
Leeuwin Art Series is my fav, but that is $40. K&L has a bunch of very reasonably priced ones that might fit the bill.

‘15 Mancini appeared somewhat taut and structured. Yielding a little spice as well. Wonder if it is in a closed phase?

Barry, Yes, I’m not sure how to read that note, maybe perfect for Boubon lovers ;-)
My fav house is Dartigalongue and their stuff is not oaky. Their XO is only $45 at K&L and their 1988 which I still have a pristine bottle of was $120. Both well worth the price if you want something more old school.

I've found the Cru to be a significant improvement over my Schott-Zwiesel Burgundy and even GGG for two PNs (Rhys and Wind Gap). Aromas are better focused and more intense. Will also test them at a PN offline this Sunday.

Mine finally showed up safe and sound. Can’t wait to try those beautiful Cru glasses. I already know that 1855 is great for Cab Zin etc.

2016 La Ferme du Mont "Le Rif", Vacqueyras, for $20 per.
