Berserkers: “I hate styro! I wish wineries would use something else! I would happily pay more for one-day shipping!”

Also Berserkers: “I’m deeply concerned about temperature fluctuations during shipping! Wineries charge too much for shipping! Why can’t it be free?”

Due to overwhelming demand we find ourselves in the enviable, but frustrating, position of having to close the recent Ravenswood Library offering much earlier than expected. They are all completely ready to drink. Have one a month over the next year (or less). +1. No point in “saving for later.” At this age, despite their excellent reputation and excellent winemaker, they’re unknowns...I think Joel alluded to that in the mailer. Open them at will, and enjoy them on the...

Don’t know/don’t care. I’m a buyer for sure, but Joel can do what he wants with his wine. I’d love to see low prices, of course, but I’m not getting in the game of predicting that which has already been decided. FWIW, the Gregory Cabernet I purchased from him a few years back was reasonably priced i...

How long to decant a cracked bottle of the Esola Zin that arrived today? It’s leaked a tablespoon or two.
If it has leaked, definitely notify the winery. Could be a sign of a bad cork, or even more ominously, could be a sign that the shipment was subjected to high temperatures.

Re: My Bedrock welcome shipment

My take (based on about 10 vintages of MTP’s wines): ALL of them need age. OVZ. Rosé. Appellation Syrah. All of them. Some drink nicely on release, but all will improve substantially after 1-3 years.

Thanks for this note. Apparently I have 4 bottles of this somewhere! Morgan's appellation bottlings give me such cognitive dissonance. On one hand, the great pricing invites early drinking. LOL, I once walked a vineyard with an experienced winemaker who is well-regarded on this board. He grabbed a few grapes and tasted them. I asked him what information he gets from doing that. He kind of shrugged and said he wasn’t sure if it was even that useful.
