Correct. Gave up all my red allocations (fourrier, mugneret gibourg etc etc) after the 14 vintage.

I paid £18 IB for the 11s vs £30 for the 18s. That’s a 7.6% compound increase. PYCM remains the only allocation I have kept as he has been incredibly fair in his pricing despite having more ability to jack up his prices than almost any other producer.

Cuenca isn’t too far away (2 hour drive) and is spectacular. Stay at the parador there. A day walking in the nearby national park around the source of the rio Tajo would be a very nice way to go too if it’s not too hot then - you’re quite high up which helps but it may still be pretty hot in late au...

Where are you staying in Zermatt? Highly recommend the Mont Cervin Palace. In terms of restaurants, not sure what’s open in the summer but the two best mountain ones are Chez Vrony and Findlerhof. I fly BA everywhere and have flown several million miles with them. I wouldn’t bother with 1st for the extra grand unless it’s a 12 hour plus flight. Dukes in St James. Perfect location and lovely hotel. Restaurants:

La Trompette - out in chiswick but definitely worth it.
Chez Bruce - out in wandsworth but definitely worth it.
Both do corkage.

Finally, someone mentioned chassagne montrachet! Not just ramonet though, every one is very red fruited in my experience. Oldest and most red fruited I’ve had was a stunning 59 CM villages red.

I only buy pycm. I’m not intentionally ageing them for 10+ years but I’m not worried if I don’t happen to get round to them until then. Eg I’ve enjoyed the 07 corton charlemagne very recently and it was superb with none of my 6 bottles showing any pox and all capable of going a lot longer.

Dolomites. Cortina, val gardena etc etc. There’s a reason it’s a world heritage site. Breathtaking scenery, incredible food (and wine!), great hiking/biking and lots more besides. Could easily combine with lake garda or como.
