I'm curious about the ArteVino III; clearly it's much more affordable, but if the only difference is that it's a Toyota, I'm fine with that.

Re: Haut Bailly vs. Les Carmes Haut Brion

I enjoyed a bottle of 2000 Les Carme Haut Briton quite recently. It was earthy and still firmly structured. I’m not a Leve; on this board I’m a nobody, but I would definitely view the wine as a good deal better than “just ok”.

It's the common grape, Duriff in France. Sure, they age a long time, but IMO, they do not evolve much. I also do not like the sometimes, chalky mouthfeel.

Re: Wine list buying vs. corkage habit

I live in San Francisco. I will bring a $30.00 bottle, usually to an ethnic restaurant that does not charge corkage. Otherwise, I have a deep wine cellar, and I always bring my wine. It isn't about saving money; in my case I'll never be able to drink all my wine in my lifetime. Plus, the restaurants...

I came across two 2000 Bordeaux magnums: Brane Cantenac and Grande Mayne. Cellar Tracker reviews were less than stellar. I'll bring a 1986 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet. I don't expect feedback from this thread, so I'm thinking the wine will be ready to go without aeration (Galloni seemed to think i...

I voted NO, I do not think I have too much fine wine and not enough everyday wine. In someone else's view this might be the opposite as most of my wine is what I would not consider everyday wines (>$60). However, this plays perfectly into my own drinking ideals as I try and avoid drinking too much ...

Turley - the world's greatest Petite Sirah producer?

For me, "greatest" Petite Sirah is an oxymoron. True, they can age a very long time, but I don't believe they gain complexity along the way.The Duriff variety is, however, a great field blend for Zinfandel.
