Re: The Comprehensive Hypothetical Napa Classified Growth Lists (and what we might consider to be the current cult wines

Kind of fun to look at the same place using both models. There’s certain wineries that are going to turn out top tier juice from any of their sites (or combination of). To take this one step further, when you remove the estate component from a winery, what are we really talking about? The winemaker...

Re: The Comprehensive Hypothetical Napa Classified Growth Lists (and what we might consider to be the current cult wines

The OP uses Classified Growths (Bordeaux) but then lists them by vineyard a la Burgundy. I think the Burgundian model works better here (ie: many folks make great wine from ToKalon, like many folks make great wine from Clos de la Roche)

Re: The Maturing Craft Beer Market

The craft beer market seems to have gone the way of baseball - more locally/regionally v. nationally. I'm fortunate here in Napa to have a handful of high quality, local producers that scratch most beer itches I have. I keep a growler in my car and all my locals will fill it.

I’ve always been a fan of Cristal, but 09 was the first that made me reach for my wallet. 08 made me empty it. My frustration has been the price. Had to scour all of DFW and harangue sales folk to find 08 Cristal for under $200 after applying a massive sale discount. Shit KL has it for $269 a pop. ...

I was lucky enough to have a glass on Friday next to Becky Hammon, one of the assistant coaches for the Spurs since 2014. I asked her what Pop thought about the article. I follow the same rule for all my spirits - more than 1/3-1/4 of bottle, do nothing (other than keep out of direct light). Less than that, either break down into smaller vessel or drink within a month.
