I know my budget is stretched, but if online ordering is still possible from the west coast wineries, could we try to promote some virtual purchasing efforts to help the biz? For those wineries more dependent on tasting room purchases, some way to virtually promote? Just saw Merrill’s follow-up. Yeah.

Just heard on national news that California is closing down “wineries”. I assume this means the tasting rooms. Too bad. Anyone have details?

I have a week long trip planned to Napa and Sonoma in late October. I plan to make that trip, god willing. I also plan to be a good consumer and buy stuff. Hope this is all a bad nightmare by then.

What’s the mood re Coronavirus in wine country?

I know the feeling here on the east coast, but how are people in the wine biz feeling? I take it “hospitality” is slowing down a bit. I just don’t want the wine business to take a hit when it needs visitors and customers.

Just drank a bottle of Michel-Schlumberger Reserve 92. Good cork, color still on red side, adequate fruit and great nose. A very good bottle of wine.

Location and history for AVAs should always win over corporate branding. Go Graeme and Alex.

I believe they have two years left on their current supply contract with Constellation.

Stayed at Hotel Iroquois on M.I. And loved it. Paid extra for one of the rooms overlooking harbor (lots of windows). Got turned off by close to $900 + room rates at Grand Hotel. Turns out you even have to pay to visit the hotel. We paid visitor fee and had lunch.

Had a great meal at the Bridges Bali, just outside Ubud center. Also great wine list. Worth checking out is Locovore ( in Ubud center ). I’ve found that when I drink decades old port, I get a really bad headache, right in the middle back portion of my head. Not so with decades old Barolo.

Such a loss. Love his wines and one of my splurges. Met him and his daughter Monica at a tasting in NYC sponsored by Manhattan Wine Co in late 2017. We got to taste 4 vintages ( if I can find my notes, I’ll add later).

Terroirs in London

Highly recommend this down to earth, French bistro type with a tapas influence. It’s a block off St Martins in the Field and Trafalgar Square. We stayed at the Marriott County Hall near the Eye and it was an easy walk. Huge selection of wine.

Are others getting multiple emails per day for Coravin’s cyber sales? After about 3 days of 3 emails a day I unsubscribed. I also sent them an email to explain my actions. 3 days later I’m still receiving multiple cyber sale emails from Coravin. Annoyed. Anyone else?

From the Lewelling website Haley is now the winemaker at Lewelling, replacing David. (Hayfork is Haley’s project). Anyone have a sense if this will change the Lewelling cabs at all? And what vintage was her first?

The Somm at the Berlin Katz Orange restaurant recommended the Peth-Wetz PV for a lamb dish. The wine is from the Rheinhessen region. The wine was very good. Who woulda thunk.
