Re: Sabelli-Frisch Wines quarantine offer - almost 50% OFF!

Adam,

Had the Alicante Bouschet last night and absolutely loved it! Big flavors of cocoa, black fruit but still displays a brightness (happily surprised that it comes in at under 13%) that keeps it from going into sweet/cloying territory.

Excellent job on this one! Gonna have to re-up.

Tom,

No real technique to speak of. We save the liquid from canned chickpeas in a glass ramekin, cover and store in fridge. Use about 1/2 oz. In a cocktail to get a beautiful, super white, thick head on our Sours.

Had the Flame Tokay a couple of nights ago Adam.

Both I and my fiancée loved it. I kept getting notes of Basque cider and Amontillado sherry. We both agreed on the savoriness aspect.

Well done again.

Made a Blood & Sand a couple of days ago. Thinking it would be too sweet, this was a gorgeous drink:

Equal parts:

Blended Scotch (Famous Grouse is recommended and that’s what we used)

Sweet Vermouth

Bitter Cherry Liquor

Orange Juice

Chiming in. Had the Milk Fed about two weeks ago (apologies for the delay) and loved the savoriness and heft of body it had. As Adam mentions, it improved as it warmed a bit in the glass.

Sat at the bar for dinner at Marea last night. A third of the bar chairs have been removed. Can anyone offer some opinions about these wines? Richard, Don’s Pinots are beautiful. Definitely more on the restrained side with a cooler climate personality. For the most part, you’ll find more earthy, savory notes intermingled with bright, red fruit. Not over the top at all. Hope that helps.

Thanks all. South of France sounds like an option but we both also wanted to focus on a more renowned wine region. Since we would get our fill of beach and sun in south of Spain, we’d be ok with a more “verdant” scenery in France. But definitely will keep the south in contention.
