great notes and thanks. When I first started drinking burgundy in the early 90's we used to drink a bunch of Jadot. The MP was one of my epiphany wines and on special occasions we'd get a bottle of the Chevalier from the distributor and it was always excellent.

Got the HDH offer on the 2018s today; there's a specific notation that the CSD is indeed the Domaine Gagey bottling.

Incidentally, the 2018 vintage at Jadot is great, just tasted there last week.
I tried a few at the tasting on town 2 weeks ago. Loved the reds. Much better than 17 IMO.

Great to know. I was actually wondering about this recently. Went to the 2018 Jadot tasting here in Chicago last week and had a brief conversation with the Jadot Rep. I was not aware that they had switched too DIAM. Their Chevalier was always one of my favorites.

I know that in theory, the "middleman" will absorb some of these cost by cutting their margin, but in control states, where does that start? If my rose wine normally sells to my distributor at $6 per bottle and now it is going to cost me $7.50 (wine cost ex-cellar Spain, + Freight + Duties & Custom...

I believe this. I can see in the restaurants. Millennials gravitate much more towards cocktails and beer. I think they are much more affordable. Plus there is lees of a tendency for them to be attracted to high profile items and the subsequent pursuit.

consensus is 18 is better than 17 for reds. Opposite for whites. Of course this depends on your preferences.

The 66 was one of the best wines I've ever had. I consider this the best "value" GC around. In that the potential for a profound wine can be had for under $1K.

FWIW I've found Neal's notes quite out of line with my tastes for whites, whereas Tanzer's are a lot closer and therefore more reliable for me. I also have the sense Neal is generally less consistent at reading very young Burgundy than Tanzer, though of course that's a dark art where everyone makes...
